While in Knysna visit the Wild oats farmers market in Sedgefield selling de vine food and unique crafts from across the Garden Route. The market stalls have a diverse range of locally produced food for a healthy breakfast or to indulge while on the move. The market is open every Saturday from 7am to 11.30am in the summer and 8.30am to 11.30am in the winter.

Buffulo bay a pristine beach in the Goukamma marine reserve running all the way to Brenton-on-sea along the Knysna coast almost 14km away. The beach provides life guards in peak season when the tourists descend for safe paddling, swimming and surfing. You can also paddle up the river through the Goukamma nature reserve for stunning views. The trip to Buffulo bay is only 15 minutes drive from the accommodation cabins.

The Knysna heads feature in the panoramic views of the Knysna lagoon. The Western sentinel features the Featherbed nature reserve an official South Africa natural heritage sight covering 150 hectares. Within the reserve lies the forest restaurant overlooking the Knysna lagoon which can only be accessed by boat. The 18km journey to Knysna will take approximately 20 minutes from our self-catering accommodation.

Knysna Elephant Park provides a free range controlled environment where you can select different tour options. The guides are informative explaining the history of these graceful animals in their natural environment. You can purchase a bucket of tasty elephant morsels and see how adapt their trunk is for grasping vegetables out of your hand. The Knysna Elephant Park is a fun day out for the whole family.

Monkey land is home to a diverse range of monkeys which roam around freely in the indigenous forest like their natural environment. Guided walks and safaris are highly recommended exploring the primates and rare birds at close range on their often humorous daily routines. The forest cafe restaurant and a shop provide a viewing deck to watch the wildlife while you relax.

The Tsitsikamma canopy tour is the first of its kind in Africa creating a breathtaking experience in the upper canopy of the Tsitsikamma indigenous rain forest. The unique vantage point enables an incredible view of the unique nature in the area. You can expect to see the elusive Knysna Loerie and cheeky Vervet monkey (which can also be seen on a regular basis at Fern Gully)

Outside Knysna on the way to Oudtshoorn lives the Cango wildlife ranch, home to more than 47 different species of animals and reptiles including a number of big cats and crocodiles. The Cango Park provides a close up view of Bengal tigers, white lions, jaguars and the endangered South African Cheetahs. Booking is advisable for groups consisting of more than ten people with tours last approximately 90 minutes.
